Tonight I attended the Vigil for Nascent Life at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago presided over by Francis Cardinal George. It is a prayer vigil that marks the beginning of Advent. Advent is about the preparation for the Lord's coming so this vigil is a fitting start to the season because it leads to focus on the gift of life that the Lord gives to each one of us. There also is a presentation of the blessed sacrament or Body and Blood of Christ. This presentation is meant to create a mood of reflection regarding what this is all about. We also prayed the 5 Joyful Mysteries.
I felt lost during the praying of the five Joyful Mysteries because I had never prayed the Rosary, therefore I did not know the prayers. I particularly need to learn the Glory Be and O, My Jesus. This should not be a difficult task. However, I also need to learn the Profession of Faith and the responses.
I will be attending the Catholics Come Home Workshops after they are announced and I signed up to be a member of Holy Name Cathedral.
